Elo Ratings

A rating built from results rather than the tour’s points system: beating a strong player is worth more than beating a weak one, and nothing expires because a year has passed.

How this is calculated

Built from 111,878 completed ATP singles matches, including ATP Challenger and ITF results between 2007 and 2026, covering 5,506 players. Walkovers are excluded because no match was played; retirements count. Everyone starts at 1500 and the K-factor decays with experience (250 / (matches + 5) ^ 0.4), so a newcomer’s rating moves fast and a settled one does not.

A surface rating is the player’s overall rating plus an adjustment learned only from their Clay matches, so the two are on the same scale and a player with no surface history reads exactly their overall rating. Players need at least 15 matches on the surface to be listed. It describes where a player is strongest — it is not a better predictor than the overall rating.

Only players active in the last 12 months are listed.
